2009-09-19-henham_rally

These are a few snaps I took at the 35th Henham rally which is held on the estate of the Earl of Stradbroke. There are many classes of exhibit here but I could not get photos of everything. Here are a few of the classes: goods vehicles, tractors, classic cars, preserved cars, steam traction, heavy horse, standing engine ... They're here in no particular order. Even though I spent over 9 hours there I don't think I got to see everything. A really good day out and something I may try to repeat.

p9190020 Some of the 149 tractors on show. I'm sure and modern day elf an safe tea inspector would die from heart failure. So many of the old motors just had the moving parts on the outside.

p9190033 Yes yes! Every body sang "I've got a brand new combine harvester" in a dodgy wurzel accent.

p9190044 I'm sure my brother had one of these. The engine was made of wood. It wooden go.
p9190045 The steam engines heading out of the parade ground. The most amazing thing about them is they total lack of noise. On the grass they were silent! No hiss, nor rattle, not puff-puff Nothing just smooth quiet power. Now I think I can see why the man with the red flag was needed.
